Shruti Hassan has come a long way since her early days, when she was portrayed mostly as a glamorous actress. Moving on, she stood by her decision to expand her roles to those that displayed her acting skills. With Ramayya Vasthavayya, she had once again run away with all the laurels, after being killed off in the film.
It all started as a special role that she consistently defended as an important one. When people asked how she could choose a guest appearance over a full length role, she stuck to her guns. Post the release of RV, everyone agrees she is the bright spot in the otherwise gory film. Yes she dies. And then she pocketed all the compliments.
The movie’s director Harish Shankar has dodged all criticism by simply highlighting Shruti’s impressive performance. Earlier too, Shruti had received many complements for her role in D-Day. She was killed off there too. It appears as if she comes alive in death on screen. Shruti rightly said that she gets her inspiration from dad Kamal Hassan, who was also killed off in many of his movies.
