Are you hooked to online shopping? The next time before you order your designer cosmetics like MAC online, do a double check! You never know, these websites could be cheating you off real stuff for small discounts.
Make-up artists across the world are warning people of buying make-up online as many e-commerce websites like eBay and Amazon are selling counterfeit cosmetics online that can do irreversible damage to your skin.
The U.S Department of Homeland Security is currently investigating one such major cases of counterfeit make-up manufacturing rings.
According to the preliminary investigation report, much of these counterfeit products are being manufactured on a large scale in China. Worse part is that the duplicate products appear so convincing that at times it is difficult to tell apart the real from fake. But then, much of the fake make-up are sold at a discount that might serve as a red flag.
While a real tube of MAC lipstick retails for approximately $15, ABC Action News found imitations priced at just 2 dollars less – for $13.
While Amazon strictly opposes selling any counterfeit products, since the website also trade through third parties, risks exist.
