Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is all set to contest the 2014 General Election this summer. As per the plans of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Kejriwal would contest from the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
AAP has definitely got its sight on the Lok Sabha. Kejriwal has declared that none of the sitting MLAs would contest the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. It implies that the AAP chief would quit the assembly as Delhi chief minister to be eligible for election.
Besides, the AAP has made up its mind for a second Delhi assembly election along with the general elections. Vinod Kumar Binny episode, is likely to leave AAP with 27 MLAs, as in all probability he would be punished for going against the Delhi chief minister. AAP-led Delhi government has exactly 36 MLAs, including Kejriwal's 28 MLAs and eight MLAs of Congress and the JD(U). With Binny going out, the Delhi government will have 35 MLAs, one short of majority in the 70-member assembly.
In the event of a second assembly polls in Delhi, Manish Sisodia, who is Kejriwal’s trusted aide and second-in-command in the Delhi government, could be the next chief minister of Delhi, if things turn out as planned by AAP ideally.
