After 'Modi chai' it's time for 'Rahul Milk' as the Congress cannot remain far behind the BJP when it comes to poll drama. The Congress party's Gorakhpur unit in Uttar Pradesh has formulated 'Rahul Milk' to attract voters and counter Modi's 'Chai pe Charcha' (discussion over tea).
The 'Rahul Milk' campaign has been launched in 19 blocks of Gorakhpur district, where the beverage is served at booths in plastic glasses. Each booth would reportedly serve 50 litres of milk and carries the slogan "Zehreele chai nahi, meetha doodh pilayenge, desh ke naujawano ko pehelwan banayenge." Meaning say no to poisonous tea, they (Congress) are serving sweet milk to benefit the health of the country's youth.
However, the campaign lacks the spark of 'Modi chai' as it doesn't enjoy the sanction of Congress high command. Due to lack of consistency, 'Rahul Milk' did not get the response that 'Modi Chai' received. Even the local people have dismissed the campaign, which was launched four days ago, as a one-off event.
The BJP's much hyped and successful 'Chai pe Charcha' campaign provides opportunity to the masses to interact with Narendra Modi. But the 'Rahul Milk' has no such option of interaction with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi interacted with people at a tea stall in Ahmedabad last week and communicated with people at tea stalls all over the country. The event was broadcast live through giant TV screens at a 1000 tea stalls across 300 cities. 'Modi Chai' campaign was launched following a jibe of Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar.
