BJP leader Arun Jaitley called the Congress a 'sinking ship' in his blog on Monday. According to Jaitley, the fact that senior Congress leaders are deserting the party and some of them are even refusing to fight the 2014 Lok sabha polls is a clear indication of the party's condition.
Jaitley in his blog said that even senior Congress leaders have lost courage and are deserting the party, which he termed as sinking ship. According to Jaitley Congress leaders are refusing to contest polls sighting health problems.
The Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha attacked the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in his blog saying the Congress leader is trying to boost the morale of his party members.
Jaitley referred to Rahul's statement on opinion polls being jokes and that the party would score higher than its 2009 tally as bravado. He said that if Gandhi's statement was to improve the sinking morale of his party members then he can understand. But if the Congress leader really believes what he's saying then he's out of reality, said Jaitley.
Jaitley, BJP's candidate from Amritsar in Punjab, said that even the UPA allies are moving away from the Congress.
Both in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, which sent a large number of MPs to the Lok Sabha in the last elections, the Congress is isolated. In Tanil Nadu the Congress will fare single digit percentage votes. While in Telangana, TRS has refused to ally with the Congress.
However, Jaitley feels that the prospects for alliance in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh is bright for the BJP.
