Varanasi is very sure whom it wants to see as its representative it seems. Even before counting of votes started today, posters congratulating Narendra Modi, BJP's prime ministerial candidate, for his victory has appeared overnight all over Varanasi.
Confident of its victory, the BJP has installed six massive LED screens for live broadcast of the counting of votes at vital intersections in the city.
Narendra Modi, 63, has been contesting for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat in a high-profile battle against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and Congress candidate Ajai Rai.
Most exit poll results have predicted a majority for the BJP-led NDA in the 16th general election of the country.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission officials have imposed a ban on victory processions in Varanasi as well as entire Uttar Pradesh after Lok Sabha election 2014 results are declared.
Umesh Sinha, the state's chief election official on Thursday said the ban on victory procession was imposed to maintain law and order in the electorally-critical state.
According to reports in local media, Narendra Modi has plans to hold a massive victory rally on Saturday in the city to thank the voters for their support in case he wins the seat. The report has been confirmed by BJP sources that Modi will offer a special prayer on the bank of the river Ganga.
