After the 'Ice Bucket Challenge', netizens can take up the 'Rice bucket challenge'. The Indian version of charity chain has been started by Hyderabad-based Manju Latha Kalanidhi.
Inspired by the global charity chain initiated to spread awareness about the disease ALS, Manju came up with the Rice Bucket Challenge, to help the poor and needy.
The official Facebook page says: "Indian version for Indian needs". Rice Bucket Challenge, calls upon people to cook or buy a bucket of rice and feed someone who needs it. It's really simple.
Just like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, netizens have to use the hashtag - #RiceBucketChallenge and urge their friends to take the challenge and forward it.
People can even donate medicines valued at Rs. 100 at the nearest government hospital in lieu of the Rice Bucket Challenge.
Manju Latha Kalanidhi was the first to start off this challenge with her post on Facebook: "My own local, practical and tangible version/response to #icebucketchallenge... save water feed the hungry!"
Manju's Facebook post instantly received thumbs ups from people who liked her idea.
The Indian version of the charity chain has created quite a stir on social platform. Participants are taking the challenge and posting their pictures, spreading the new message.
If you don't feel motivated to join the Ice Bucket challenge, you can join the Rice Bucket challenge meant to benefit the needy.
