Actress and BJP MP Hema Malini was injured on Thursday in a road accident involving her Mercedes car and a Maruti Alto car in which one child was killed. The child’s parents and another young child who were in the Alto have been hospitalised.

"I am being told the Mercedes was speeding. It drove over the divider," said senior police officer Rajinder Tyagi.

Dausa Superintendent of Police, Anshuman Bhomia said, "Five people were injured and out of them Sonam died. Sonam's mother and brother have been referred to SMS (Sawai Man Singh) hospital."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the news of Dausa accident. I pray for the victims. We're making all efforts to provide immediate relief and medical care."

Hema Malini, who was sitting in the front seat, sustained injuries on her forehead, cheek and legs. She was rushed to the Fortis Hospital in Jaipur where doctors conducted a CT scan and administered stitches on her wounds. A neurosurgeon and plastic surgeon are treating the injury on her face and she is kept in the hospital under observation. Doctors said her condition was out of danger.
