Authorities in India have issued a dress code for candidates who are retaking a medical school exam to eliminate the use of increasingly inventive methods of cheating in the exam.

Earlier, the Supreme Court ordered over 600,000 students to retake the exam after founding that the question paper had been leaked.

The authorities told the candidates to wear light clothes with half-sleeves. They cannot wear shirts with big buttons and even earrings. They are not allowed to carry pens, handbags, calculators and wallets. They are asked to wear open slippers instead of shoes. The dress code is intended to eliminate some of the obvious hiding places for gadgets like mobile SIM cards and Bluetooth devices.

Over the past few years, students cheating in exams in India have been found to use Bluetooth devices and mobile SIM cards by stitching them to their shirts. Some devices have also been used to scan and transmit question to professionals outside exam halls so that they can reply back the answers.

The new guidelines followed national scandal over a huge medical school admissions examination, which involved many arrests and mysterious deaths.
