Bihar's chief minister Nitish Kumar announced on Thursday that all consumers in the state will receive free electricity for usage up to 125 units. This declaration comes as Bihar prepares for assembly elections later this year, likely occurring in October or November, although the Election Commission has not yet confirmed the dates. "Since the beginning, we have been providing electricity at lower rates. We have now decided that starting from August 1, 2025, meaning the bill for July, all residential users in the state will not have to pay for up to 125 units of electricity," the Bihar CM shared on the social media site X.

He stated that this initiative will aid approximately 1 crore 67 lakh families in the state. He also mentioned the government's plan to install solar panels on household rooftops or nearby public areas with the agreement of residential users. Kumar indicated that this plan would take effect within the next three years. Under the Kutir Jyoti program, the state government will finance the complete installation of solar power systems for very poor families and offer additional help for others. On Wednesday, Nitish Kumar ordered education officials to find out how many teaching positions are open in government schools and to start organizing the Teachers' Recruitment Exam (TRE)-4 as quickly as possible.

In TRE-1 and TRE-2, they appointed 1.70 lakh and 70,000 teachers respectively, while TRE-3 was able to fill 66,603 posts out of 87,774 vacancies. "The education department has been directed to locate teacher openings in government schools and to launch the TRE-4 exam process as soon as possible. The state government has made it clear that women who live in Bihar will receive the benefit of 35 percent reservation in job appointments," Kumar posted on X on Wednesday. Education department officials stated that TRE-4 is anticipated to create chances for over 1.20 lakh individuals seeking teaching positions, and the announcement for this will arrive soon. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will oversee the examination for teachers at primary, middle, secondary, and senior secondary levels in schools. "TRE-4 will take place before the model code of conduct is put into effect in the state," Bihar's education minister Sunil Kumar told journalists on Wednesday.
