In an event to celebrate the completion of its 20 years in India Discovery Channel has come up with a special showcase of some of its most iconic programmes in history, including some of the finest stories from the country.

The programmes run for two days beginning on August 15 and covers a wide spectrum of Discovery genres that include natural history, science, technology, adventure, wildlife, survival and engineering which have once been a hit and entertained the viewers across the Nation, urban and rural areas.

One programme to be telecasted is "India Emerges: A visual history" that shows the country's journey from being the jewel in an imperial crown to emerging as an independent nation.

The three-part series with rare archival footage scheduled to air from August 14 - August 16, attempts to give away the audiences the story of contemporary India.

Discovery is today has viewers in five languages in India which includes Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Bangla across analogue and digital platforms.

"Discovery Channel has had a life changing impact on millions of viewers in India. The tremendous affection that it enjoys in India continues to fuel our passion to relentlessly push the boundaries of factual entertainment and uncover the finest stories from across the world," Rahul Johri, EVP and GM-South Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific said.

The channel has also built a distinct community of 7.4 million fans in India on Facebook.

Pioneered the factual genre in India on 15th August 1995 the channel introduced a refreshing new wave of programming and completely changed the perception towards the television.

Multiplying the growth of the Indian television industry in the last 20 years, Discovery set afresh its content offerings at various intervals while maintaining its core agenda.

Adjusting to the changing needs of the viewers, it introduced new and exciting genres with changing times over this period such as technology, forensic, survival and adventure to deepen its relationship with viewers.

Today, the India content is a significant new addition to its existing programming portfolio.
