Republican front-runner Donald Trump has been in the news very often these days, for his statements. He comes into spot light again by suggesting ‘punishment’ to women who get abortions. However, he did not indicate what the punishment should be. The comments came during the taping of a town hall in Wisconsin, in a hot exchange with MSNBC's Chris Matthews. Wisconsin would hold its primary the coming week.
In the exchange over on topic ‘if abortion has to be banned’, Trump told Matthews that, "There has to be some form of punishment." This is one of the subjects that remained highly controversial from decades after getting legalized by the Supreme Court.
When Matthews questioned about the nature of the punishment, Trump responded saying that, "I haven't determined what the punishment should be."
Responding quickly to the comments, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton took twitter to note Trump's comments and added saying, "Just when you thought it couldn't get worse. Horrific and telling."
Often, Trump said that he is against abortions except in cases of rape, risk to mother’s life and incest. He said that his stance on abortion rights has evolved over the years.
Few hours later, Trump's campaign looked to take his comments back in two different statements. The statements ultimately said that the Republican candidate believes that the providers of abortion are to be punished and not their patients.
