The Maoist party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is all set to be named as the next prime minister of the Himalayan nation 'Nepal', as the deadline for nominations expired with only his name on the ballot.
The lawmakers in Nepal are need to elect the new prime minister as K.P. Sharma Oli quit his term during last week, just minutes ahead facing a no-confidence motion in Parliament.
The AFP reported, referring to the Maoist party leader, deputy parliament spokesman Sudarshan Kuinkel, said that, "We have only received the nomination of Pushpa Kamal Dahal for the prime minister's post."
Earlier, the Maoist party leader has served as Prime Minister for nine months after the Maoists won elections in 2008. In 2013 elections, the party lost the ground, but now only the third-biggest force in Parliament.
The Maoists and Nepali Congress are in negotiations with the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF). It is an alliance of protesting parties in an attempt to secure their votes.
Lal Babu Raut, vice-chairperson of the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, said that, “The talks so far have been positive and we are inclined to support him in the election tomorrow.” It is one of the member parties of UDMF.
“We are hopeful that our grievances against the Constitution will be addressed by the new government.”
