Former chief minister Siddaramaiah's son is among those who are looking to secure a position in DK Shivakumar's cabinet following a leadership change in Karnataka. A considerable number of individuals hope to be part of the new government as the Congress party deals with complicated relationships for its formation. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, who serves as a Member of the Legislative Council, mentioned that the party's top officials have guaranteed him a ministerial role. "I have ambitions. The party's top officials have promised me a position in the Karnataka cabinet. I feel optimistic. I am unsure about a KPCC position. I do not know what the top officials have decided regarding a KPCC role yet," he stated. Another Congress MLA, Basavaraj Shivannavar, expressed his desire for a ministerial job, stating that he has been seeking this opportunity for three years. "My top leaders are Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. Siddaramaiah has supported me, and DK Shivakumar introduced me to the party. We have requested that our community from the North Karnataka area be given a ministerial role. We do not anticipate this in the initial phase, but we are hopeful for a ministerial position in the following phase," he shared. DK Shivakumar is set to be sworn in as chief minister on Wednesday after the Congress party agreed to a power transition in Karnataka last week, which concludes a prolonged leadership conflict.

Upon taking office as chief minister, Shivakumar described himself as a committed Congress worker who will occupy the prominent role. "It is not just me, but a dedicated member of the Congress party who is becoming the chief minister. I have been involved with the Congress since the 1980s, even serving as a student leader during my university years. People are pleased that a Congress member is taking on the role of chief minister," he remarked. The Congress party has not yet announced which additional leaders will be sworn in as ministers alongside Shivakumar. According to sources, the Congress might consider a format with two to three deputy chief ministers. It is rumored that the party leadership is looking into a power-sharing plan that could include a Dalit leader and a minority community leader for the deputy chief minister positions.
