
Now Medical marijuana is available in Florida and can be only recommended by the selected 100 doctors. Beginning from Tuesday, Amendment 2 rolls out in Florida. Medical marijuana was supported by 71 percent of voters in November 2016, but do not expect to see weed shops popping out of every corner near you. Doctors are taking on the risk to put the drug in patients’ hands.
Cannabis medicine to be legal in the UK
Right now, there are only 91 doctors in the Bay area, with most in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties, who can now recommend medical marijuana as a treatment option to patients. Doctor and patient have to jump over through a lot of hoops to qualify and all of the rules are not even clear yet.
“Attorney Sunai Edwards thinks that it is a lot easier for doctors to make a decision on marijuana than for opioids. Doctors gets a lot of people in a lot of pain. It is a tough decision to make as a physician.”
Edwards’ husband, Dr. Brett Levine, is one of the 100 doctors in Florida who took the decision to take an 8 hour course, getting certified by the Department of Health and can now recommend marijuana to patients.

In year 2014, the Legislature approved the use of low-THC and non-smoked marijuana for patients who are suffering from cancer, epilepsy, chronic seizures and chronic muscle spasms. Then it was expanded last year to include patients with terminal conditions under the Right to Try Act and allowed them to use higher strains. Patients suffering from HIV/AIDS, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder, ALS, Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or other similar conditions will now be covered.
