Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) parties are promising to declare a power-sharing agreement for their coalition government in Karnataka on Friday, with clear reiteration that H. D. Kumaraswamy will be Chief Minister for the full term and both the parties contesting Lok Sabha polls 2019 collectively.

Antonymous to the speculation, the extended talk terms were focused also on other dimensions, setting up a coordination committee, common minimum programme and firmness of the regime rather than not merely on ministerial portfolios to be appointed between the two partners.

The finance will be run by JD (S) while the home department by Congress among significant portfolios.

JD(S) secretary general Danish Ali said, “The announcement will be a written agreement resolving all issues to run a stable coalition for five years. That is why it has taken so long. We wanted everything to be on paper so that the government could run smoothly for its full term under the chief ministership of H D Kumaraswamy.”

C. Venugopal, Congress general secretary and Danish Ali, JD(S) flew to Bengaluru on Thursday after five rounds of negotiations in national capital for concluding talks with local body and Congress President, Rahul Gandhi joined the talk terms on through a conference call on Wednesday night to settle matters.
