Indian-American Doctor of Pennsylvania Pleads Guilty to Health Care Fraud

An Indian-American inhabitant of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of unlawfully dispensing retrained substances, and health care sharp practice.

The 68-year-old Dr. Madhu Aggarwal, pleaded guilty to the three counts in front United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab and Western District of Pennsylvania Scott W. Brady proclaimed on Thursday.

Judge Schwab arranged to convict Aggarwal on November 28.

In link with the guilty plea, the law court was counseled that Aggarwal was a doctor practicing at Redirections Treatment Advocates, a Suboxone clinic, located in Washington, PA, and that she and some others plotted jointly to generate and yield illegal instructions for buprenorphine, known as Subutex and Suboxone, and then illegally distributed those restrained substances to other persons.

Aggarwal is likewise charged with health care fraud for reportedly creating illegal claims to be submitted to cover the costs of the illegally prescribed buprenorphine,  to Medicare for payments.

Aggarwal could face a total per count sentence of a maximum 10 years in the prison house, a fine of $500,000.00, or both, for the controlled substances offenses. She likewise faces an additional maximum time period of imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of $250,000.00 for the health care fraud charge. Pending sentencing, the court continued Aggarwal on bond, the press release said.
