Ramesh Chennamaneni’s Indian citizenship is revoked by the Ministry Of Home Affairs as he committed fraud in achieving Indian Citizenship and kept facts a secret.

Vemulawada constituency re-elected Chennamaneni to the Telangana Assembly last year.

Chennamaneni had German citizenship and did not fulfill the criteria for seeking Indian citizenship in 2009 and for this, a Congress leader lodged a complaint against him to prove his legislator, said the Government.

Based on the home ministry order, Chennamaneni was not in India for a year before he made the application and as per the Citizenship Act, a person who applies for Indian citizenship should be present in India at least for 12 months before the date of application. He violated this rule.

On Wednesday, The Ministry of Home Affairs said: "It is not conducive to the public good that Dr. Ramesh Chennamaneni continues to be a citizen of India under Section 10 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 decides that Dr. Ramesh Chennamaneni ceases to be a Citizen of India."

Looking into his records, he didn’t have any crime war or terrorism case against him, thus, the Government gave him citizenship. If the Government knew about violating the rule of Citizenship, he wouldn’t get it.

Having a bigger responsibility The MHA had to cancel his citizenship as it is his responsibility to keep legal submissions transparent given the fact that he is a public representative.

The ministry found it important to take action against the MLA, failing which many other people will get citizenship misleading the Government.

Ramesh approached the High Court with regards to this case as his citizenship was canceled in December 2017 and thus the MHA had to look into it again.

As the MHA canceled his citizenship another time, Ramesh has decided to take this case to the High Court again.
