Citizenship Amendment Act has been described as India’s domestic issue by Russia, a P-5 member state.

“The government is well aware of the Russian position on the issue of CAA. It is a domestic matter for India and Russia does not comment on such matters,” Roman Babushkin, the Russian Deputy Ambassador to India said in the year end press meet.

Citizenship Amendment Act has also been described as internal matter of India by France, a week earlier.

Babushkin said referring to the BrahMos missiles which was jointly developed by Russia and India, that the two countries are in touch with about dozen countries for exporting Brahmos missiles.

Phillipines had showed interest in purchase of the BrahMos missiles recently. Delfin Lorenzana said in Manila that a contract will be signed in the early part of 2020 for the medium-range ramjet supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles which will be used for the coastal defence missions of the Phillipine Army.

The procurement of the missiles will be done via “government-to-government mode,” said Lorenza. BrahMos will be the first Phillipine weaponry with the capability of being deterrent. The other SE Asians are also planning to purchase the missile as it being the best in its category.

Babushkin said that there has been no military alliance with China and has no intentions in forming military alliance with Beijing in the future, when the question of China preventing Russia from selling the BrahMos missiles was raised.
