India, US Looking at an Exclusive Trade Partnership, says Shringla

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, India’s outgoing Ambassador to the US said at his farewell reception that India and the US are looking for an exclusive partnership which can provide preferential market access to the companies of both the nations.

The farewell reception was organized by US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum or USISPF on Tuesday. The representatives of the US Government and the members of the corporate world attended the meeting.

Shringla said that the several rounds of trade talks lead two countries successful in bridging gaps. He is going to be India’s next foreign secretary and would take up the assignment later this month.

“We have had several rounds of talks between our Minister of Commerce and Industry and the US Trade Representatives. We have had several rounds of talks between the senior officials and both sides. We have been successful in bridging many of the gaps,”Shringla said .

He added saying that the bilateral trade has been increased from USD142 billion to USD160 billion in the year 2019.

Mukesh Aghi USISPF President praised Shringla saying that, the one-year tenure as India’s Ambassador to the US was result-oriented and that he was successful in taking the relationship to a new level.
