DRDO and Dr Reddy's came up with an anti-Covid drug named 2DGand the announcement was made some time ago. The announcement came today saying that 2DG is priced at Rs 990 per sachet. Dr Reddy's will be providing 2DG at a discounted price for the government hospitals, Centre and the state governments of the country. Dr Reddy's released the second batch of 10,000 2DG anti-Covid drug yesterday. The drug will be commercially available in the market for Rs 990. The Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) approved 2DG for emergency use for the treatment of the severe covid patients. The approval came at the time the country is badly hit due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A large number of patients have been struggling with breathlessness and there is huge shortage for beds and oxygen cylinders in the country. The Defence Ministry announced that the 2DG anti-Covid drug is designed to save thousands of lives. The drug also reduces the patient's stay in the hospital. The Centre is also announced considering three more companies to keep the production of 2DG up. The demand for the drug is quite high for now. 2DG is available in powder form and is developed by DRDO's Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences in collaboration with Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Hyderabad.
