India Will Attain the Net Zero by 2070 Says Narendra Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that India will attain the Net Zero emission target by 2070. Narendra Modi made thes comments at the COP26 Summit that is taking place in Scotland's Glasgow. Narendra Modi said that India is the only nation that delivered its commitments at the Paris Climate Summit that took place six years ago. Narendra Modi spoke at the World Leaders' Summit of 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that is held from October 31st to November 12th. Narendra Modi also met UK President Boris Johnson and had a meeting about the bilateral relations.

"Net zero means a balance between the greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. India will make a one billion tonne reduction in the project emission starting from now until 2030. Every nation has to set a net zero emission target. India was once the largest emitter and is the only country to announce a net-zero target till date. The target to install renewable energy capacity is enhanced from 450 GM to 500 GW. The country's emission intensity or the emission per unit GDP will reduce by 45 percent by the year 2030 from the levels of 2005. India promised to reduce the intensity of emissions by 35 percent during the date" told Narendra Modi during his speech.
