In Mumbai, during the busy morning commute, a tragic incident resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to three others when they fell from two overcrowded local trains that were crossing paths. Railway officials reported that the accident took place at approximately 9:30 a.m. between Diva and Kopar stations on the Central Railway line. One train was en route to Kasara, while the other was headed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. All those who lost their lives were reportedly aged between 30 and 35 years. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims were standing on the footboards of the trains when they lost their grip and fell onto the tracks.
The guard of the train bound for Kasara promptly notified railway officials about the accident. As a result, emergency responders and police quickly arrived at the scene with ambulances to assist the injured. The victims were taken to a hospital in Kalwa, where five were sadly pronounced dead. Three of the deceased have been identified thus far: Ketan Dilip Saroj, 23, from Ulhasnagar; 34-year-old railway worker Vickey Babasaheb Mukhidal; and Rahul Santosh Gupta. The identities of the other victims remain unconfirmed. Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis conveyed his sympathies to the families affected by this disaster.
