The motive for the killing is still unknown. Bihar police have also created a special team to investigate. Khemka was a businessman. His son, Gunjan Khemka, was murdered three years prior. Pappu Yadav, also known as Rajesh Ranjan, from Purnea, quickly went to the location last night. He criticized the government run by Nitish Kumar on X, stating that "nobody is secure in Bihar." He added, "Bihar is now a safe place for criminals! Nitish, please have mercy on Bihar." Yadav claimed that if the government back then hadn't sided with criminals and had punished them severely when Mr. Khemka's son was killed, Gopal Khemka wouldn't have been killed now.
Tejashwi Yadav, a leader from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), also criticized the government led by Nitish Kumar. He wrote on X that a well-known businessman in Bihar was shot dead very close to the police station in Patna. He questioned why they can't call Bihar a lawless state when hundreds of business people are killed every month, and said that the media is just managing the image and perception.
