Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was assaulted during a public meeting at her home earlier today. A man, reportedly in his 40s, approached the Chief Minister during a 'Jansunwai' event and attacked her. The Chief Minister's security team quickly apprehended the assailant, who is currently under investigation.

The Chief Minister has been taken to a hospital, and senior officials from the Delhi Police have arrived at her home to secure the area. Initial reports state that the attacker has been named as Rajesh Sakriya, who hails from Rajkot in Gujarat. To respond to the public's concerns, the Chief Minister holds a 'Jansunwai' session at her residence weekly. Senior BJP figure Harish Khurana stated, "A person who was at the meeting assaulted the Chief Minister. Currently, medical staff are assessing her condition. We denounce this attack and urge an investigation to determine if it had political motives." Witnesses reported that the attacker came with documents and talked to the Chief Minister before suddenly striking her.

The BJP has suggested that this attack might involve a political plot. Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa remarked that opponents cannot stand the Chief Minister's work, and there is an active investigation to discover who is behind the attacker. Former Chief Minister and opposition Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi has condemned the assault, asserting that violence has no place in a democracy. "The attack on the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, is extremely unacceptable. While disagreements and protests are part of a democracy, violence has no room. I trust the Delhi Police will take the strongest measures against those responsible. I hope for the complete safety of the Chief Minister," Ms. Atishi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, stated. As per information from the Delhi Police, a probe will be initiated to understand how this significant security lapse occurred. Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh will oversee this investigation.
