Two trucks crashed into each other, trapping a car in between in Pune on Thursday. The crash resulted in the deaths of eight individuals and left 15 others hurt. Footage from the incident in the Navale Bridge area of Pune shows one of the trucks on fire, while images display the damaged vehicle caught between the two trucks. Firefighters quickly responded to the site after being alerted and began rescue and firefighting efforts. The incident led to total traffic stoppage on the national highway, creating a huge traffic jam. Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that a compensation of Rs 5 lakh will be given to the victims' families. This accident occurred shortly after a truck carrying more than 100 LPG cylinders flipped over while taking a sharp turn on the Thanjavur-Ariyalur highway in the Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu on Monday, resulting in a large fire and multiple explosions.
The truck was on its way from an Indane Gas storage facility near Dindigul Road to deliver cylinders to a local seller in Ariyalur when it was turning at a bend near a Pillaiyar temple. Suddenly, a stray dog appeared on the road. To avoid hitting the dog, the driver, Kanagaraj, slammed on the brakes, which made the truck go out of control and fall into a ditch by the side of the road. The collision set off a chain reaction as the packed cylinders crashed into one another, leading to a series of strong explosions that sent flames shooting into the sky. Kanagaraj was able to jump out of the truck and run for his life just as the first few cylinders blew up. Nearby residents rushed to help him and contacted emergency services. He suffered several injuries and was taken to the Ariyalur Government Medical College Hospital.
