Senior Congress figure and head of the Congress Parliamentary Party, Sonia Gandhi, was taken to Sri Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday evening after feeling unwell. PTI sources reported that she was having issues related to a change in the weather and is being monitored. They also mentioned that a group of doctors is looking after her, but her health is not considered serious. This recent hospitalization has caused worry among Congress members and supporters, although early reports suggest that her condition is stable. According to PTI, Sonia Gandhi was admitted late on Tuesday and continues to be under medical care at the hospital. A more detailed official medical update has not yet been provided. It was also reported that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were present at the hospital after her admission, even though the specific medical cause for this situation was not immediately revealed other than the weather-related issues. Sonia Gandhi, who celebrated her 79th birthday in December 2025, is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha representing Rajasthan. Throughout the years, she has been a key figure in the Congress party, having served multiple terms as a Lok Sabha member and also as the party president.

This is not the first occasion Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalized at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in recent months. In January 2026, she was admitted for respiratory problems, with doctors stating that her bronchial asthma had slightly worsened due to the cold weather and poor air quality in Delhi. Earlier in 2025, she was hospitalized for a stomach infection and was monitored during her stay, while another admission in February 2025 was related to abdominal complications.
