Travelers who were "greatly affected" during the turmoil at airports from December 3 to 5 because of IndiGo's lack of crew will receive Rs 10,000 as compensation, the airline shared today. However, IndiGo has not explained what "greatly affected" means and how it will determine which customers qualify for the compensation. The airline, which is facing criticism and consequences for canceling many flights over several days, stated in a release that it has already provided necessary refunds for the canceled flights. "IndiGo sadly admits that some of our clients traveling on December 3, 4, and 5, 2025, were stuck for long periods at certain airports, and many faced severe problems because of overcrowding. We will give travel vouchers worth INR 10,000 to those who were greatly affected," the airline mentioned in a statement. "These travel vouchers can be redeemed for any future IndiGo flight within the next year," it added.

IndiGo made it clear that this compensation is on top of the payment of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 that it has promised according to the government rules for customers whose flights were canceled within 24 hours of their departure. "At IndiGo, we are dedicated to bringing back the service you expect from us—safe, smooth, and dependable. Thank you for allowing us to serve you again," the statement declared. In a different announcement, the airline noted that its services to all locations have been up and running for four days and there have been no same-day cancellations for the last three days, except for those caused by weather, technical issues, and other unavoidable circumstances. "IndiGo is continuing to enhance its operations, improving services day by day and currently managing over 1,900 flights connecting all 138 locations in our network. Our commitment to excellent operations has led to major efficiency improvements, and our On-time Performance has returned to top industry standards," it stated.

"As the IndiGo team collaborates closely with authorities to further stabilize our operations, we remain dedicated to safety, efficiency, and assisting every customer," the announcement said. The government has reduced IndiGo's winter schedule by 10 percent following its inadequate preparation to implement new flight safety regulations, which caused a significant crew shortage and grounded numerous flights for days, leaving many people stranded. Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu mentioned that strict action will be taken and that safety in civil aviation is essential. They have also stated their intention to set an example for other airlines to prevent a repeat of this situation.
