Two brothers, Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, who escaped to Thailand after a tragic fire occurred at their nightclub in Goa earlier this month, were brought back to Delhi on Tuesday. Gaurav, who is 44 years old, and Saurabh, who is 40, flew to Phuket on an IndiGo flight just hours after a huge fire at 'Birch by Romeo Lane' resulted in the deaths of 25 individuals on December 6. They were detained in Phuket on December 11 when they left their hotel to eat and were taken to Bangkok. The Luthras returned on an IndiGo flight that landed in Delhi around 2 pm. They will now appear in a local court in Delhi, where authorities will request their transit remand.
A case of culpable homicide and negligence has been filed against the brothers, who own and run several cafes and clubs in the country. Investigators claimed their nightclub was not following necessary safety regulations, which increased the seriousness of the incident. An Interpol Blue Corner Notice was issued after they left the country. The fire started at 'Birch By Romeo Lane' in Arpora, North Goa, around midnight on Saturday when electronic fireworks used during a dance ignited the roof. The nightclub's construction involved a lot of flammable materials, like bamboo, which reportedly made the fire spread quickly.

One witness mentioned that at least 100 people were dancing in the nightclub when the fire started, and while trying to flee, some ran down to the kitchen area, where they became trapped with the employees. The club was very crowded since it was the weekend, according to the witness. The nightclub, located near the Arpora River, had a small entrance and exit, which reportedly made it hard for rescuers to reach the site and help those inside. The fire resulted in 25 fatalities, including 20 staff members and five tourists. Goa Police has arrested five individuals so far, including managers and employees linked to the nightclub in connection with the case.
