Glamor world's association with growling canines is nothing new! But while their glitzy actors walked away with all the adulation, their canine counterparts relatively remained anonymous.

But all that is to change now as a new glossy coffee table book titled Hollywood Dogs will get you up, close and deep into the lives of the canine stars of the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Among the popular canines featured in the book are German Shepherd Rin Tin Tin, who has starred in as many as 26 different films, and Asta, the Wire Fox Terrier, lauded for his role as Skippy.

The book also includes Pal, a male Rough Collar Sheepdog, who starred in not less than seven Lassie films between 1943 and 1951.

The lengthy tome also feature Terry the (female) Cairn Terrier who played the iconic role of Toto in the Wizard of Oz, and 15 other films.

The USP of this one of its kind of a coffee tome may be the canine stars, but its the delightful pictures of pet doggies with their human stars that makes for a real visual treat. For example, the wonderful image of Elvis Presley hugging a hound and Marilyn Monroe cuddling a glamorous white Bichon Frise are the real scene-stealer of this tome.
