While the world was recovering from Irrfan Khan’s death, the Bollywood was hit with another wave of sadness when it was reported that the veteran actor Rishi Kapoor was no more. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and was undergoing treatment for an year in New York following which he returned to India on September 2019.

While the actor has been under strict supervision, he was admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai where he breathed his last with Neetu Singh by his side. The actor has been a role model for many and an entertainer of the masses. He takes a rebirth and is born as Monty in the next life. He is now a famous singer. When he visits Ooty on a trip, he recollects all the memories of his past life and sets out on a hunt to get traces about his past life and his evil wife Kamini.

The movie was directed by Subhash Ghai and stars Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim in the lead roles.


Yet another must watch Rishi Kapoor movie is Saagar which narrates the complexities involved in a love triangle. The story revolves around Raja, who is secretly in love with Mona but Mona loves Ravi. While Ravi’s grandmother is not accepting of the situation and relationship, he asks Mona to forget him and marry someone else.

Ye Vaada Raha

The story is of a 90-year old man, Amarjeet whose last wish is to have a family portrail with all the Kapoors and Sons. To fulfill the man’s last wish, every single member of the troubled family come together. Harsh and Sunita are always fighting because of their riots about Harsh’s extra marital affair. Their sons, Arjun and Rahul don’t get along as well. Along the movie, you experience a whole lot of emotions that you otherwise wouldn’t even think of.

Mera Naam Joker

When it comes an OG movie of Rishi Kapoor, you can’t miss out on his debut movie, Mera Naam Joker. This movie even fetched him a National Award as a child artist. The movies was directed by Raj Kapoor. The character of Rishi Kapoor in the movies, Raju develops a liking towards his teacher but gets his heart broken. He decides to dress up as a clown and entertain people around to ensure everyone is happy. That is where the journey starts. This movie is nothing short of a milestone for Indian cinema.


Last but not the least is Chaandi which again drew in more and more fans of Rishi Kapoor. The movie also stars Vinod Khanna and Sridevi in supporting roles. This love story has been a massive favourite among the masses. The story revolves around the lives of Rohit and Chandni who are in love and are set to marry. When Rohit is left paralyzed because of a mishap, he drives Chandni away to let her live the life she deserves. Heartbroken, Chandni starts working under Lalit to get herself back on her own feet. Lalit falls in love with Chandni and when Rohit befriends Lalit, he realises that both of them are in love with the same woman. But, in the end , eternal love is what gains victory.
