Hit-maker Beyonce has created history again and how! Just 48 hours after her surprise fifth studio album hit unannounced on iTunes, it shot into the UK Official Albums Chart top five, selling a whopping 68,000 copies in UK in just two days and clocking over 828,773 sales in iTunes, becoming the fastest selling album ever. Whoa!
The hush-hush self-titled album that sneakily exploded into the digital music jukebox on Friday has created a frenzy among the fans.
'Destiny's Child' singer had plans to release the follow up of her 2011 album 4 sometime next year. However, she decided to give her fans an early Christmas gift by putting it on an early sale. And guess what? It surely did the trick for her, skyrocketting her new album to the fifth spot on the albums chart and clocking record-breaking sales.
Official Charts Company Chief Executive Martin Talbot said: "It is a great achievement by Beyoncé to make such an impact so quickly, after just two days sales - and especially with only the digital edition available. Few, if any, albums have sold as many digital copies in such a short space of time."
The album features a massive 31 songs including 14 brand new tracks and the star has collaborated with husband Jay Z and her one-year-old daughter Blue Ivy on the album as well as other musicians including Drake and Frank Ocean.
Not only did the unexpected release cause iTunes to temporarily crash due to the overload of eager fans, Queen B has now become the envy of record companies globally after managing to keep the much anticipated album complete hush-hush.
Meanwhile, Target has decided not to carry Beyoncé's album in their shelves since she released it exclusively on the internet first
The album will be available at many other retail stores on Dec. 20.
Beyoncé has recorded 17 brand new music videos to go with some of the songs on her new album.
