New mom Kate Winslet is breathing fire and why? The 'Titanic' star and mum-of-three, who recently delivered a baby boy, is apparently miffed with a UK based fathers' rights organization called Fathers 4 Justice for apparently running a controversial ad on her.
The Oscar winning actress, who has three kids from each of her past three marriages, recently claimed in an in interview that despite divorce with ex-husbands Sam Mendes and Jim Threapleton, her offsprings didn't have to run 'from pillar to post' to get both parents' attention. “My kids don’t go back and forth; none of this 50/50 time with the mums and dads – my children live with me, that is it,” she had proclaimed.
However, her open declaration has landed her in a soup as the campaigners for dads have targeted her in their new controversial ad captioned as “Kate, every child deserves a father this Christmas.”
Her ex-husband, film director Sam Mendes – dad to Kate’s nine-year-old son Joe – jumped to her defence, saying: “It is inappropriate for this organisation to involve my family and I when they know nothing of our personal circumstances.
"Whilst I fully support fathers’ rights, I can happily state this has never been a concern for me or my son.”
Fathers4Justice said: “We are running this advert as part of a campaign to highlight the sensitive issue of four million children waking up on Christmas Day without their father. It is clear from what Kate says that she does not support ‘shared parenting’.”
Kate’s first husband Jim Threapleton, father of her daughter, Mia, 13, is however supporting Fathers4Justice.
Kate declined to comment.
