Hear you rock and roll fanatics! King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley's hair is up for grabs.
Yes, the famous single strand of Presley's ebony lock, displayed in the middle of a framed record, will go down under the hammer at an auction house in Northumberland. Accompanying it will be a letter from a guy called Thomas Morgan, who was Presley's acquaintance and a friend of his hairdresser, Homer Gilleland. The letter mentions how Gilleland had accompanied the King in his many tours and collected clippings of his mane, which today remains among one of his most prized possessions.

Jim Railton, from the Northern Auction Centre in Wooler, Northumberland, authenticating the item, said "We have never sold Elvis' hair before. It came from a deceased estate and we didn't know much about it. I processed it quite quickly and did not actually look at the back until someone said there's some stuff behind the picture."

"When we had a look we found some provenance with a certificate saying it was Elvis' hair. It's not something you come across every day and it's here to be sold for whatever it makes on the day, there's no reserve. It could make 50 pounds, it could make 5,000 pounds but it is a rare thing and we are quite confident it is what it says it is," Railton said.
