The verdict on the central government’s plea regarding the hanging of the convicts in the Nirbhaya case will be pronounced by the High Court of Delhi on Wednesday.

The future of the convicts is said to be decided by Justice Suresh Kaith who has been hearing the case. It would also be made clear whether if all the convicts can be hanged together or those with the mercy petitions that have been rejected can be executed earlier.

The applications of the convicts had been submitted to the Delhi High Court by the central government with the reasons of the four guilty regarding the case misusing the judicial system which in turn made a delay in their hanging. Their order had been reserved by the high court of Delhi after the completion of the special hearing on Sunday.

The verdict is said to be pronounced by the Delhi high court at 2:30pm on Wednesday on the application by the Center. The Nirbhaya’s parents have mentioned the issue before Justice Kaith on Tuesday and had pleaded that the decision to be taken quickly.

The curative petition of the three from the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case have already been rejected by the Supreme Court.

However, the mercy petitions that have been filed by Mukesh and Vinay were rejected by the President where as the mercy petition that has been filed by Akshay is still pending with the President’s office at the moment.

New applications are being submitted repeatedly by the guilty and the mercy petitions are being pending at the court is in turn leading to the postponement as their death warrant has already been stopped twice by the Patiala House Court.

A death warrant has been issued by the Patiala high court in order to hang the guilty on the 1st of February but it has been later stopped from being executed as the mercy petition that has been filed at the President’s office by Vinay who is one among the four guilty.

The Nirbhaya case is about a gang rape case that took place in the year 2012 and has shook the entire nation. A young woman who was a 23- year- old physiotherapist intern had been gang raped by four men in a moving bus on the night of the 16th of December, 2012 in South Delhi and had been tortured and was later thrown on the streets of Delhi. She has struggled hard for life and has died on the fortnight at a Singapore hospital.
