Maharashtra happens to be the most affected state of the country due to coronavirus and the state has been reporting more than 30 percent of the total reported cases in the country from the past few weeks. The state reported 66,836 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 773 people passed away in Maharashtra yesterday alone. The situations are quite disturbing and there is a huge shortage of hospital beds and oxygen cylinders. The number of active cases in the state continued to rise and they stand at 6,91,851 which is the highest in the country currently. The total number of coronavirus cases reported in Maharashtra are said to be 41,61,676 and the positivity rate is 16.53 percent.

There is a shortage of medical supplies, coronavirus vaccines and life-saving oxygen across the state because of the huge rise in the number of cases. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase the supply of oxygen considering the conditions in the state. India emerged as the top state and it delivered more than 3.32 lakh cases in a single day which is huge. The number of reported deaths too increased on a fast note. The state imposed lockdown but the new number of cases continued to take a rise. The ministers of Maharashtra wanted a complete lockdown in the state to bring the situations to a control. The state's Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is considering the suggestion but a complete shutdown would have a huge impact on the state feels the Chief Minister.
