India’s 1st Mobile Display Plant to be Set Up by Samsung

India’s first smart phone display manufacturing unit is being setup by Samsung, on the outskirts of Delhi. The company is investing more than Rs 3,500 crore in Noida regarding this facility based on the regulatory filing with the Registrar of Companies (RoC).

Samsung India Electronics which is flagship India entity of chaebol, has transferred a plot to a group company

A plot has been transferred to the group company, Samsung display, by the flagship India entity of chaebol, in its manufacturing plant area that is already existing and a loan of Rs 3,500 crore has also been given in order to meet the investment and working capital requirement for the establishment of the product unit.

Samsung said that, displays of mobile phones and IT displays would be produced by the plant. The displays for mobile phones would be initially produced by the plant which would later extend to laptops and televisions, says an industry executive aware of the plan. He also added saying that the enhancement of the current investments will be made with the increase in the capacities and the Samsung Display would be selling the component to other brands like it does globally.

Samsung’s play will be expanded in the component segment with largest components which include the display panel as one of the largest components by value in the mobile phones and television manufactures.

The world’s largest manufacturing unit has been started in India in recent times withe total outlay being Rs 4,915 crore.

Mohit Yadav, the founder of Veratech Intelligence has addressed the decision taken by Samsung in investing heavily in order to build cellphone displays in India was a boost to make in India. He also added saying that, it can be understood that consumption of Samsung products will be increased in India and Samsung is confident regarding the same.
