Indian Independence Day is just a day away. If you are an Indian who put down roots in foreign parts you would surely feel nostalgic about time you attended flag-hoisting ceremonies, those speeches of chief guests, and especially the patriotic feel you would get in your home country is second to none.

India became independent from the British on August 15, 1947, when the British voluntarily granted India its independence. Since then, August 15 is celebrated with the unfurling of the tricolor, patriotic songs, parades, and the remembrance.

Nevertheless, if you are feeling out of sorts for not being in India on the day, here are some great ways to take part in the festivities irrespective of the country you are based.

Doll Yourself up Patriotically

To get the vibes of patriotism, dress up yourself with an Indian flag-theme attire and in case it is challenging to buy flag themed dresses, you can also choose to wear saffron, white, and green.

Bedeck Your Home Patriotically

Embellish your abode with temporary changes. You can consider bringing in nature to your home to signify green in the Indian flag. You can pick up some plants and place them in terracotta pots. You can paint the pots in orange and white color for flag-like appearance. You can also switch your window hangings, cushion covers, and bedsheets to tricolors. In order to represent the Ashoka Chakra, add some navy blue touches.

Throw an Independence Day Party

Nothing feels like being in the home other than meeting your friends and family overseas. Arrange an Independence Day party and serve your guests with the traditional Indian food. To get in the more patriotic mood, hold the attention of your guests with some movies focused around the spirit of freedom or celebration. Tricolored candles, mini Indian stamp books, or potted plants can play the part of a great thank you gift.
