You have been expecting a parcel and suddenly the door-bell rings. You open the door only to find a queer looking copter grabbing your parcel and not a delivery boy? For all your guesses, we ain't talking about any futuristic movie script but a reality that will soon be at your doorstep.

Amazon, one of world's largest online retailers, are all set to take the concept of home delivery to the next level with their latest project.

The Internet shopping giant has revealed its future plan to uses octocoptors instead of postmen to deliver their parcels. That way, they will also be able to cut all delivery times to just 30 minutes.

Amazon will have each delivery dropped at every customer's front yard by an air-flying machine that would pick the delivery from a nearby warehouse and drop it at the doorstop. Each parcel will be tightly clasped to the drone with a metal grabber.

It is not clear if the drones are a PR stunt or a serious proposition, but speaking to a TV network, CBS, Jeff Bezos said: ‘I know this looks like science fiction. It’s not.’

Bezos’ new project raise the prospect of a future where drones would whiz through the skies, carrying parcels, and someday letters too.

Bezos revealed that he would launch the ‘Amazon Prime Air’ service within four to five years from now, possibly only in the US first before anywhere else.
