The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is out to form alliance with regional political parties before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. And BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is helping in striking a deal with allies to come to the NDA.

In maintaining a balance over the Telangana-Seemandhra issue, the BJP had its focus on the possible pre-election tie-up with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Now that the Telangana bill has been passed in both the houses of Parliament, the saffron party is likely to approach the TDP to join the NDA.

With Modi's growing support acroos the country, especially in the North-East, the BJP leaders are rethinking on a possible poll alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). However, the sangh parivar is keen that before the BJP forms any alliance with the AGP, the Assam party should declare its opposition to the All India United Democratic Front of Badruddin Ajmal to prevent division of its caste Hindu votes.

Meanwhile, the RSS has deputed a senior BJP leader to Seemandhra during the weekend to prepare its cadre for a possible alliance with TDP. Besides senior BJP leaders are constantly in touch with the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

On February 27, BJP parliamentary board meeting will discuss the issue of pre-poll alliances and the TDP is likely to be the first party to join the NDA. According to reports, a senior BJP strategist said that all three parties (BJP, TDP and AGP) will gain from the alliance that is likely to help the NDA win 272 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, needed to form government at the centre.
