Did you think that driving on the left or right side of the road was wierd? Have you ever thought that for driving a vehicle all you need to do is to follow the traffic signals and you are safe. Well. Here are some weird road rules that are followed in various countries across the world.
No yelling or cursing
Keep your stress level under control while driving in Rockville, Maryland, where you cannot curse in public. If you break this traffic rule you could end up paying a hefty fine of up to $100 (approx Rs. 5,800). You could also be arrested and kept in jail for up to 90 days. People in India definitely need this law.
Driving a dirty car? Pay fine
Those of you who can't care whether your car is clean or dirty may be shocked in Russia. Lazy car drivers who go around in dirty cars should be prepared to pay a fine of upto 2,000 roubles (approx. Rs. 3,400).
Keep your car's headlights on all the time
This definitely sounds absurd, but Sweden's traffic rules require car owners to keep their vehicle's headlights on 24 hours a day. While it's understandable that the lights are needed all the time in cold countries like Sweden during winter, but even in June when the weather looks fine your car's lights cannot be turned off. Thats strange.
You cannot wipe a car with a used underwear in a car wash
In San Francisco, California, it's illegal to wipe a car with a used underwear in a car wash. What? And who uses an underwear to wipe a car - used or new.? Whoever made that rule needs to get his/her head checked for who will buy a new underwear to wipe the car.
Drink but don't be drunk while driving in Costa Rica
And how do you figure that out? Traffic rules in Costa Rica allows you to drink alcohol while driving but your blood-alcohol level should be below 0.75 per cent. Really? Brinking water seems to be pretty ok by me.
Drunk? You can't sit in the front seat
Macedonia traffic rules says that if a person is "visibly under the influence of alcohol" he/she cannot occupy the front seats of a vehicle. While I knew that drinking and driving is illegal and forbidden but not allowing someone who is drunk to sit beside the driver is also good.
Even your driver cannot be drunk
Japan traffic rules says that as a passenger you have to ensure that the driver is sober and not intoxicated. Else the passenger is also liable to be punished under Japanese law.
Women in Saudi Arabia cannot drive
Saudi Arabia doesn't allow its womenfolk to drive a vehicle. It's the only country in the world that deprieves women from getting behind the wheel.
Mandatory to wear shirt while driving
If you are in Thailand and driving it's mandatory for you to wear a shirt. And if you fancy going topless, you should be prepared to pay a fine amounting to a few hundred baht.
