Indian Air Force gets first indigenously-built Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, 32 years after it was conceived. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) handed over the Tejas Series Production-1 (LCA-SP1) to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
The Indian Air Force at last got the long awaited plane that was conceived 32 years ago handed over it to Indian Air Force (IAF) in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The Tejas safe to in fly different condition, this was introduced for a project that was commenced in 1983 and has cost over Rs 17,000 crores from the national treasury.
The initial operation clearance was given by state owned aircraft producer HAL in January 2011. The final clearance is expected by the end of this year.
The aircraft (SP1) has flown in the different situation while in testing and 20 more such aircrafts will be built by 2017-2018 to make the first squadron of the aircraft.
The LCA programme was initiated in 1983 to replace the ageing MiG-21s in Indian Air Force's combat fleet but has missed several deadlines due to various reasons.
