Hours after the official announce of Kiran Bedi as CM candidate from BJP by party president Amit Shah, a hoarding outside the Delhi BJP headquarters, which was placed to welcome her vandalized by some anonymous persons. In that hoarding Kiran Bedi and Delhi unit president Satish Upadhyay were shown one side while PM Modi and Party President Amit Shah were shown.
Minutes after the images of Kiran Bedi and Satish Upadhyay on the hoarding got damaged, media personnel started speculations and illusions about the sulking of senior members in party over choosing new comer or outsider as CM candidate. Media reported that RSS and Senior leaders in party are not wholeheartedly welcoming the decision of party top brace.
The party also had made it clear that Upadhyay will not be contesting the election. It is reported by some section of media that the Delhi BJP president was interested in fighting from the Malviya Nagar seat.
Before this incident, BJP president Amit Shah, after the chief election committee meeting met media persons and said, "BJP will contest polls under the leadership of Kiran Bedi in New Delhi. She will contest from Krishna Nagar constituency. The party leadership has chosen her as the chief ministerial candidate for the Delhi Assembly election."
Chief Ministerial Candidate Kiran Bedi shall be contesting from Krishna Nagar; former Union Minister Krishna Tirath, who joined BJP from Congress on Monday, is fielded from Patel Nagar seat. On AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, former DUSU president and party’s BJYM leader Nupur Sharma will fight from the New Delhi constituency.
Before announcing the official list of candidates, media reported that the party leadership has decided to pit former AAP member Shazia Ilmi and good orator against Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi. However, in a tweet Shazia Ilmi clarified that she has opted out of Delhi polls.
And political analysts are predicting the BJP’s victory with huge margin, but working under a former officer and strict person will be a tougher time for BJP cadre and elected MLAs in the future. Bedi can overshadow the top authority in the party with her clan image and hard work, while she may not be able to manage the party workers as a conventional political leader.
