Judges of the Supreme Court will be given ‘all possible security shield’ as per the order given by the Chief Justice of India H L Dattu, after an anonymous threat- letter received by Justice Dipak Misra.

Justice Dipak Misra was one of the three judge bench that rejected last-gasp petition by the Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon's to stay his execution.

The Chief Justice of India H L Dattu told PTI that, "The moment I got information about the letter containing the threat being thrown into the premises of one of my judges, I immediately instructed the authorities concerned to take adequate and appropriate measures for providing security to the judge concerned and other colleagues.”

He added that such threats will not affect the morale of judges as they believe in karma. Commenting on the security of the Supreme Court, Justice Dattu said that the security committee of the apex court was asked by him to conduct detailed survey on it and on the requirements and plans.

"I inquired from the officials concerned and learnt that the security arrangements were reviewed more than six years ago. I told them that if that was the case, we must have a fresh detailed analysis of the security requirements of the Supreme Court and its premises and put in place necessary arrangements to make the security as fool-proof as possible," Justice Dattu said.
