At least 67 people were killed in a suicide bomber attack at a park in Lahore on Sunday. Most of them among those dead were children and women. Pakistani Taliban faction claimed the attack and mentioned about targeting Christians. Officials said that over 300 other people were wounded. The attack took place at the place where Christians were celebrating Easter.
Dozens of ambulances rushed to the spot to carry out rescue operations. According to an official, army was called in and soldiers were at the scene for security as well as rescue.
According to senior police officer Haider Ashraf, the explosion happened close to the children's rides in Gulshan-e-Iqbal park, which was crowded with Christians celebrating the Easter holidays.
A 35-year-old resident, Javed Ali lives opposite park. He said that windows of his homes were shattered by the blast.
"Everything was shaking, there were cries and dust everywhere. After ten minutes I went outside. There was human flesh on the walls of our house. People were crying, I could hear ambulances," he added.
"It was overcrowded because of Easter, there were a lot of Christians there. It was so crowded I told my family not to go," he said.
