Amit Shah Attended Cabinet Meeting at PM Modi’s House Days before Testing COVID-19 Positive

Amit Shah was present at the cabinet meeting on National Education Policy 2020 held at PM Narendra Modi residence recently.

Home Minister Amit Shah of the BJP government took to twitter on Sunday to inform everyone that he had tested positive for coronavirus. Floods of messages with people wishing him a speedy recovery were received from across India.

He was immediately rushed to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and has been receiving treatment for the virus from yesterday.

Amit Shah also urged people who came in contact with him recently to isolate themselves and get tested for the dreaded coronavirus.

Meanwhile, tensions have surrounded the BJP government, as the NEP 2020 cabinet meeting which took place recently at Prime Minister’s residence had Amit Shah as one of the attendee.

Reportedly, the cabinet meeting regarding the New Education Policy was attended by all the cabinet ministers of the incumbent government. However, it is unclear if the cabinet colleagues of Shah will undergo coronavirus tests or not.

The sources have said that strict social distancing has been followed at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, Modi’s residence.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19, strict protocol is being followed at the PM’s residence since the last few months. Temperature checks, arogya setu checks and no ferrying of internal cars to outsiders and strict social distancing and online video meetings are given preference.

However, the NEP 2020 policy being the major one, the meeting had to be held physically at Prime Minister’s residence where strict social distancing was followed. The Prime Minister had official approved the National Educational Policy in this meeting.

Apart from Amit Shah, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had also tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday i.e., yesterday.

Top Political leaders including BJP President J P Nadda, Rahul Gandhi of the Congress political party, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have wished the Home Minister a speedy recovery from the virus.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus in India had crossed 18 lakh as on Monday, August 3 and the death toll rose to 38,135 as on Monday. However, the active coronavirus cases in the country stand at 584,000.

However, the country has not got respite from the COVID-19 but Unlock 3.0 has begun from August 1 where gymnasiums and yoga institutes were given the permission to restart their services and the night curfew has been removed across the country.
