After several rounds of discussions held by groups of protesters, leaders, political members, farmers groups and union ministers, there hasn’t been a plausible conclusion. The delayed sixth round table talk which was supposed to be held on Wednesday was supposed to open up expressive ideas and dialogues for all the involved parties for a positive future outlook.

Over the past couple of weeks, farmers have been protesting against the Central government’s three agricultural reforms which increases the involvement of private corporate and companies into the agricultural sector, decreasing revenue incentives for farmers. Protesters are planning to campaign regarding the issue mores seriously from December 2014 onwards to hasten the Central Government’s decision to amend the farmers’ laws.

All the parties involved in the protest are consistent in their opposition against the Central Government’s laws. The Protesters are intensifying their protest by blocking the Jaipur-Delhi and the Delhi-Agra expressways by the end of the week. And will further escalate the countrywide protest on December 14.

So what are the latest updates in the ongoing farm stir?

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) requested the Naredra Modi-led governments to make more compensating laws which benefits farmers and to withdraw the laws “immediately and unconditionally”. A former ally of the BJP added that the Central governments proposals to amend the three laws which are nothing but delaying and diversionary tricks and tactics which have been continuously rejected by farmers.

Union agricultural minister Narendra Singh Tomar met home minister Amit Shah will contribute to the discussion over the next course of action after all the protesters representative groups rejected the Central Governments laws. According to sources, the Central Government offered to amend 7-8 issues related to the farmers’ laws, including providing a written assurance for the minimum support price (MSP ) policy.

Leaders of opposing parties are also seeking the removal of the laws. The general statement from the parties is that the laws were passed without any discussion or conversation with any of the relevant parties such as opposing parties and farmers. They also added that farmers would not relent and continue their protests until the laws are taken back.

Union minister of state for food and public distribution Raosaheb Danve claims that not only India but other countries from around the world including China, Pakistan and the USA. Although the Central Government has passed the laws in order to benefit the farmers, the farmers have a varying opinion.

Although the government feels as if they are making a positive impact on farmers, there is still a lot of work in progress that needs to be implemented to yield positive results for all the involved parties. Sources also claim that the Central government is also keen on resolving issues with the farmers laws.
