Varun Singh, the Survivor in Chopper Crash is No More

Group Captain Varun Singh, the only survivor in the recent chopper crash that killed 13 in Coonoor district is no more. General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Defence Staff also died in the chopper crash on December 8th. Varun Singh was rushed to the Army Hospital in Wellington and his condition continued to be critical. He suffered severe burns and is being treated at the Bengaluru Military Hospital and was kept on life support. The Indian Force confirmed his demise this morning.

The official statement said "The IAF is deeply saddened to inform the passing away of braveheart Group Captain Varun Singh, who succumbed this morning to the injuries sustained in the helicopter accident on 08 Dec 21. IAF offers sincere condolences and stands firmly with the bereaved family". The entire nation has been praying for his recovery but unfortunately, Varun Singh passed away. Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned his demise. "Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valour and utmost professionalism. I am extremely anguished by his passing away. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti," posted Narendra Modi.

Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika along with 12 others died after the chopper Mi 17V5 crashed just seven minutes before landing. The investigation about the incident is currently going on.
