Group Captain Varun Singh who battled for life after the chopper crash was the lone survivor. The entire nation prayed for his recovery but he breathed his last. He was cremated with full military honors in Bhopal on Friday. His mortal remains were wrapped up in a tricolor and brought to the cremation ground in the region of Bairagarh from the Military Hospital. The army truck was covered with flowers and the people raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai along with Group Captain Varun Singh Amar Rahe. The senior officials paid their tributes by laying floral wreaths on the coffin of the Group Captain.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Medical Education Minister Vishvas Sarang paid their tributes and were present for the cremation. The younger brother of Varun Singh and his son lit the funeral pyre amid the slogans. Varun Singh's father Colonel K P Singh, mother Uma along with Varun Singh's wife and daughter were present. Varun Singh passed away on Wednesday and he was the only survivor of the chopper crash that took place on December 8th in Coonoor. Chief of Defence Starr General Bipin Rawat along with 12 others passed away in the crash. Varun Singh was conferred with Shaurya Chakra this year in August and he is one of the best pilots of the country. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
