Veteran Politician Mulayam Singh Yadav Is No More

Veteran politician and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav who played a crucial role in the politics of Uttar Pradesh and the nation breathed his last today. The 82-year-old politician has been critical for the past few days and he was on a ventilator in the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The doctors announced that his health condition is critical on Saturday and he was on life-saving drugs in ICU. Mulayam Singh Yadav's son Akhilesh Yadav confirmed the news about his father's demise. Born on November 22nd, 1939, Mulayam Singh Yadav worked as a Member of Lok Sabha from the Manipuri constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He worked three times as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was a socialist leader and was very active in politics from 1970s.

Mulayam Singh Yadav took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the first time in 1989 after his party dethroned Congress. Several national leaders and politicians paid their tributes through social media. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted "I had many interactions with Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji when we served as Chief Ministers of our respective states. The close association continued and I always looked forward to hearing his views. His demise pains me. Condolences to his family and lakhs of supporters. Om Shanti". Mulayam Singh Yadav was popularly called Netaji by his party leaders and supporters. Mulayam Singh Yadav also served as the Defence Minister of the country. He made the headlines for his protests against the Mandal Commission. He wanted Akhilesh to take up the power after the party is back in UP in 2012. There were differences between Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh but they had a patch up soon. Rest in peace Mulayam Singh Yadav.
